INTRODUCTION

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Scriptum application ("App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

LICENSE TO USE

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

You may:

  • Use the App on devices you own or control

  • Create, edit, and store books and content within the App

  • Sync your content across your devices using iCloud (if enabled)

  • Export your content as permitted by the App's features

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the App

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App

  • Remove any proprietary notices from the App

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App

SCRIPTUM PRO SUBSCRIPTION

Subscription Options
Scriptum Pro is available as:

  • Yearly subscription (auto-renewing)

Payment and Billing

  • All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store

  • Subscription prices are displayed in the App before purchase

  • Yearly subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period

  • Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period


Cancellation

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings

  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period

  • No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods

  • Lifetime purchases are non-refundable except as required by applicable law


Free Trial

  • If offered, free trials automatically convert to paid subscriptions unless cancelled before the trial ends

  • Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited upon purchasing a subscription



USER CONTENT


Ownership

You retain full ownership of all content you create within the App, including books, notes, drawings, images, and any other materials ("User Content").


Responsibility
You are solely responsible for your User Content. You agree not to create, store, or share content that:

  • Infringes on intellectual property rights of others

  • Is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable

  • Contains viruses or malicious code

  • Violates any applicable laws or regulations


Backup
You are responsible for maintaining backups of your User Content. While the App provides iCloud Sync functionality, this is not a guarantee against data loss.


INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The App, including its design, features, graphics, and code, is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.

The Scriptum name, logo, and related marks are trademarks. You may not use these without prior written permission.


DISCLAIMERS

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability

  • Fitness for a particular purpose

  • Non-infringement

  • Accuracy or reliability of content

  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation

No guarantee is made that:

  • The App will meet your specific requirements

  • The App will be available at all times

  • Results obtained from the App will be accurate

  • Any errors will be corrected


LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall there be liability for any:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages

  • Loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill

  • Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the App

  • Damages resulting from unauthorised access to your content

  • Any other damages arising from the App


This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory and even if advised of the possibility of such damages.


Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, so these limitations may not apply to you.


INDEMNIFICATION


You agree to indemnify and hold harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the App

  • Your User Content

  • Your violation of these Terms

  • Your violation of any rights of others


THIRD-PARTY SERVICES


The App uses third-party services including:

  • Apple App Store (payments)

  • Apple CloudKit (iCloud sync)

  • RevenueCat (subscription management)

  • Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting)


Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.


TERMINATION


Your right to use the App may be terminated if you violate these Terms. Upon termination:

  • Your license to use the App ends immediately

  • You must stop using the App

  • Your locally stored content remains on your device

  • Access to Scriptum Pro features will be revoked


Termination does not affect any rights or obligations that accrued before termination.



CHANGES TO THESE TERMS


These Terms may be updated from time to time. Changes will be indicated by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms.


Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the App.


SEVERABILITY


If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full effect.


ENTIRE AGREEMENT


These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the App regarding its use, superseding any prior agreements.
